Three Things Thursday

1- When traveling for work with a group of men, and vendors are taking you to the best places to eat, it is not always the best idea to get the most food and drinks possible out of the free meal.

Moo.

That said, I ate at a couple of great places in Minneapolis (here and here) and one pretty great place in Grand Rapids. I did pretty good at eating healthy in Grand Rapids (here), but I was out of control in Minneapolis.

2 - I haven't been running. Combined with #1 above, I feel terrible right about now. I want to hibernate and wake up when I've lost about 20 lbs. The problem with hibernating is that it won't get me marathon-ready in less than 3 months. Guess I'll have to suck it up.

3 - Work is kicking my butt. I need to figure out how to get more rest when I'm traveling. I chose the job that includes all the travel, now I have to figure out how to make it work in my life. When I'm on the road, I tend to work all day at the facility I'm visiting, then go to my hotel and do the work I would have done if I was in the office.

I can relate to this post. My advice is to get your rest, and you will get back on track with the rest!!

I gained all my weight back traveling. When I was most successful I planned my week out like I would as if I was home.

(yes I plan my bed time and rise time)

Set a schedule and stick to a bed time.

I would do most of my work in the AM and go to bed at an early time.

Up at 6. Workout and shower until 7:30. Id work until 8:30 in the room then get to the office by 9. I'd then go back to my room before dinner, work for an hour or so before dinner. Then go to dinner and go to bed.

Also try to have your dinners before 8pm so your not eating super late.

I also ate fruit most days for breakfast and/or a granola bar that I would pack with me.

This is of course when I was most successful on the road.

I do EXACTLY the same thing! It is such a challenge to eat healthy on the road. I just wrote today about my new "panic button" plan for keeping myself in check. It's not easy at all! Tonight I'm actually skipping the gym in favor of sleeping... and I am trying my darnedest not to feel guilty for it.
