This weekend was pretty tame, but it was the best weekend I've had in a while anyhow.
Saturday morning, I skipped out on a 5K that my friends were going to because of my son's football game that afternoon. I was going to have to leave early and knew that I wouldn't make it if I ran the race.
Saturday morning, too late for the race, the coach stopped by our house to let us know that the game was cancelled. AARGH!
Well, my friends had a pleasant day, involving shopping and wine swilling. I went to the library and grocery store with my daughter. Ah, well.
Later, my daughter and I went to see "Tyler Perry's The Family that Preys".
My friends had never heard of it, but I LOVE Tyler Perry movies.
Sunday morning, Angie and I had planned to run 10 miles, but it was drizzling a little bit of rain. We decided to go ahead and go for it anyway.
Miles 1 and 2 were nice, no rain to speak of and the time was passing quickly.
Mile 3- We picked up an extra dog. He decided we looked like a lot of fun and proceeded to follow us for the next 7 miles, even in the rain, all the way back to my house.
Mile 3.5-10 - This is about the time the rain started to pick up. By the end of the run, it was raining pretty hard and the wind had picked up. It was kind of nice to run in the rain, but we did a lot of walking after the rain started. I'm sure the people that were passing by us on their way to church thought we were a little crazy. They were probably right. I had to loan Angie a towel for the ride home, and dripped on the floor all the way through my house to get it.
I am glad we went ahead and went for it. If we hadn't done that, I would never have done the 10 miles and would have missed yet another planned run. So far, week 1 of my revised training plan is complete, and I did all of the runs that were planned for the week. Maybe the switch is finally flipped and I'm making my comeback. (I hope)
Sunday evening, Angie and I went to see "The Women"
It was a pretty good movie, but I think they could have made it better with the caliber of stars that were in it. What has Meg Ryan done to herself? She looked so much better before the lip injections, etc. Annette Bening was gorgeous!
Before the movie, we had a glass of wine at the local winery. After the movie, we went for Mexican food. All of those calories burned during that 10 mile rainy run, we ate and drank them away.
It was totally worth it.
Totally.
(I came home afterward and watched a couple of episodes of "I Love the 80's" on VH1.)

Congrats on sticking it out in the rain!
Woohoo on the run!
Good job on the run! I always drink my running calories :)
That sounds like a fabulous rainy run- and that's too funny about the dog.
Glad to hear that the switch is pretty much flipped. Keep it up!!
Nice run Tam!
nice job on running in the rain. You are hardcore!
Yeah...the run was great....I agree but...
SERIOUSLY...WTF is up with Meg Ryan's LIPS...They're FREEKIN' HUGE!!!
I'm with ya on that one...
Hi, I just stumbled upon your blog.
Great job running in the rain, it feels good knowing you stuck out a wet run rather than not going.
I totally agree about Meg Ryan, btw. She looks like the Joker. It's sad.
