I KNEW IT!

Well, I'm late to the party on this one...

I was just checking out some other blogs and found that the Biggest Loser contestant Dane DID NOT finish a marathon in 3:53. He did not finish a marathon at all. He and his wife hitched a ride for 3 miles so that they could get the dramatic finish line shot in time, at a clock time of 5:53.

WHEW!

I knew there had to be something screwy going on with that story.
So, now I feel just a little better about my marathon times. For this April, I'm not expecting to PR what with the extra weight and all, but I do hope that I don't run slower than my first marathon. I think my first one was 4:58 and change. I know it was just barely under the 5-hour mark.

Other than that, I got nothing. I had a very un-productive weekend, unless you call sitting in a recliner and alternating reading and watching TV whilst eating peanut butter cookies productive. No? All righty then.

Now, I have to un-do the damage before my 4 weeks is up.

That story just bugs the crap outta me! Just because you run a portion of the race does not make you a marathoner.

ya, that whole marathon thing had me scratching my head that night, then i saw all the blogging about it the next day. The producers have since released an apology, but still crappy how it was portrayed.

I don't think anyone would have thought less of him for not finishing...he ran 17 or 23 miles (depending on what you read). But the fact he collected the finisher's medal...he sucks.

FYI, I walk/ran the last 5K of my second 1/2 marathon and I still claimed I finished, because I traveled the whole 13.1 miles on foot following the race course.

It's also hard for me to believe that the producers didn't ask around to make sure the 6 hours was a hard deadline.

Yasmin- If you finished the entire race on your feet, you finished!

Yeah, I read that story and just couldn't believe that the producers filmed him at the finish line as if he finished...as if running 17 or 23 miles isn't enough of an accomplishment. GAH! He shouldn't have taken the finishers medal though...

I vote you do the 5k if you're up for big city races. That's about as big as it gets that weekend. :o)
