This Father's Day weekend had a late start.
I live about a 5 hour drive from where the rest of my family lives (parents, brother, sister, nieces and nephews). My daughter had to work over the weekend, so she wasn't joining on the trip.
She was planning to come by on Friday evening, so we decided not to drive down until Saturday.
(She didn't show up on Friday, oh well).
Since we weren't going to leave until Saturday, I decided to sign up for a 10k on Saturday morning. The race on Saturday was one of my favorite race organizers' races, so it was a no-brainer. It was the Kenosha Lakefront Run 5k/10k and ended at a pop-up Biergarten
The weather was perfect - 55-60 degrees and breezy right along the lake. We ran a 9-1 run/walk interval. Since there was a 5K and a 10K, I was at the back of the pack. That was fine, I know that these guys wait until the last finisher. They did wait until the last finisher, plenty of medals, plenty of beer, plenty of water and snacks. But, it's Monday now and the results are on the website. No results for me. Oh well. I wasn't running a blistering pace, but I was apparently the only person in my age group - I should be awarded 1st place!
I hadn't run a step since I ran a 5K last week, so I was perfectly happy with this pace. My goal was to be under 90 minutes, and I made it!
After getting back home, I showered quick and drove to my parents' house.
Father's Day 2022 was the usual - burgers, brats and dogs. Great day with family.
I drove home last night and off to Atlanta for work tomorrow.
